UNDERGROUND HOUSES as an unconventional and eco-friendly approach.
We are experimentally participating in another underground construction, this time a semi-detached house in the district of Trenčín. Today there is a growing trend of building underground houses demonstrating many advantages. First of all, from the urbanistic viewpoint, it does not fundamentally disturb the environment it enters and can be constructed on unsuitable and unnoticed sloping land.
Architectural forms seek symbiosis with nature. Concerning environmental and financial aspects, the soil acts as a partial heat accumulator and regulates external temperature extremes, reducing the need to heat the building. The bioclimatic ventilation and cooling solution exclude the installation of controlled ventilation or cooling unit. In fact, the electricity requirements are minimal, demonstrably reducing the environmental load impact. Together with other solutions, the house can be significantly self-sufficient and eco-friendly.
Moreover, there is the safety aspect as there are advantages with safety features against natural elements, earthquakes or fire. While it may not be an option for everyone, it has many undeniable positive benefits, and the trend of underground settlement is sure to grow.
