The demand for the construction of a new gymnasium for school, municipality, or local sports club depending on social conditions, regularly appearing in the mail of various architectural design studios and construction companies.
A case study of this typology by architects Pavel Pokorný, Michal Diviš, Matej Mičiak, and Matej Kuchar in collaboration with the company Kontrakting (a specialist in wooden constructions) presents a solution that is rational, staid, sustainable, and spatially universal, solution as an answer to the client's request "I need a gymnasium that will meet the broadest needs of the local community."
The proposed building consists of two main parts – the service wing and the sports hall.
The service wing is designed for autonomous operation both in the area of the school campus and in the village. It consists of a central entrance filter, male and female changing rooms with sanitary facilities, a storage room for sports equipment, a manager's office, and a technical room.
The sports hall, with a ground dimension of 19.0 x 32.0 meters of net sports area, allows a wide range of sports activities for both schools and sports clubs. An added bonus of the spatial design is a spectator gallery with a capacity of 60 standing spectators.
The gymnasium building is designed as an assembled wooden structure in an energy passive standard.
