Low-energy house in Lietavská Svinná, almost in a passive standard. The heating area is 255 m2, and the annual specific heat demand is estimated at 22 kWh/(m2/a). The dominant feature of the building is a two-storey living room with a fireplace.
The barn-like character of the main part of the house, complemented by a ventilated façade of larch cladding fits into the beautiful scenery of the Strážov Hills.
"The two-storey residential house with a garage is located in the village of Lietavská Svinná - Babkov, in the part Kňazová Lehota. The village lies in the valley of the Svinianka river, in the southern part of the Žilina basin. The sloping terrain on the southern border of the built-up area offers views of the Lietavské Podhradie and the opposite limestone ridge.
The house is shifted to the southern boundary of the plot with an area of almost 1800 m2. The configuration of the original terrain was the basis for the two-level land use. The garage, accessible by a road running along the eastern edge of the plot, forms the base for the night part of the house. The L-shaped floor plan, which develops at a higher level, is bounded from the eastern side by the upper, day part of the house with a gable roof. The roof also forms a visual barrier for the open garden segment. A concrete terrace, surrounded by both sides of the house, opens to the southwest. The views of the surrounding meadows are not disturbed by any neighbours.
The pleasant grey patina of the wood on the façade of the daily part of the house is alternated with the meticulously monochromatic surfaces of the lower wing. No overhang roof and concealed gutters let the composition of the pair of blocks stand out. The spatial concept of the interior is enriched by an elevated living room zone, open to the full height of the truss with a gallery on the first floor."
